FLYIN' OVER OCEAN
A DIGITAL ART CENTER
Hangars Numériques is an ultramarine digital art centre. The structure, based on the island of Reunion, develops a decentralized resource hub and exhibition space dedicated to digital arts and cultures in the Indian Ocean and more broadly overseas. Considering art and more broadly digital culture as a powerful vector of social inclusion and development, our structure of general interest deploys three main axes allowing different audiences to better understand the digital in its cultural and also social dimension.
With the ambition of bringing together, the center brings together artists and actors of hybrid and digital creation from overseas. Hangars Numériques carries and supports a fragile and evolving ultramarine ecosytem while exploring international creation and research, in the fields of the living and its relations with technologies, bioart and environmental humanities.
RESEARCH & CREATION
Created in 2014, Hangars Numériques brings together different skills inherent in the field of interdisciplinary digital creation. Designed as a laboratory where the fields of dance, music and visual arts interact, the digital tool acts in these approaches as a linker, fundamental to the creations designed. The structure is made up of two artistic poles: image and music, articulated around dance.
Indian Ocean Digital Arts Center
Hangars Numériques supports the emergence and visibility of contemporary digital creations in Reunion and the Indian Ocean, in conjunction with HacNum, the national network of hybrid arts and digital cultures. Our structure constitutes an innovative resource center for the overseas territories. Located at the crossroads of continents, the Indian Ocean includes Mayotte and Reunion, lands of Europe, where Africa, Asia and Oceania meet. It is all the creators and digital creators of these spaces that we are led to value and promote locally, nationally and internationally.
An animated dance research center
With the establishment of a genre festival, a unique platform for study and research, a dedicated collection, workshops for young audiences, transdisciplinary residencies for productions and co-productions, Hangars Numériques is developing a unique research center in animated dance.
Exhibition and publication
Weeditions of the catalogs of the exhibitions designed (Micromega, FIDA) and offer member and/or associate artists the possibility of publishing their research (artists books, specific works).
CULTURE TRAINING
Culture
Digital education through arts and culture seems essential to us in a rapidly changing society.
Hangars Numériques raises awareness and promotes digital arts and cultures in the Indian Ocean to diverse audiences. By working to distribute works, in particular animated dance, our structure familiarizes the Reunionese public with the questions underlying contemporary artistic and digital creation.
From our research center, an international digital web scene dedicated to Animated Dance is developed by our structure.
Training
Our research center offers a specific training course in Animated Dance, in Computer-Aided Music but also in Art History.
Disciplinary expertise is at the heart of our support for training and digital creation. In partnership with the Musical Academy in Saint-Denis, our structure also offers a musical training offer and regularly organizes, in addition, courses, workshops and master classes.
In partnership with the Academy of Reunion / Rectorate, we carry out punctually projects of artistic and educational interventions within schools.
DIGITAL MEDIATION
Advisory support and accompaniment
Our structure supports external artistic and cultural projects by offering digital and artistic expertise services. Over several years, we have had the pleasure of accompanying Lalanbik - Indian Ocean choreographic development center, L'Académie - Music and Dance and Jazzalam - jazz scene in Reunion.
Digital inclusion
Since 2020, we have been developing a solidarity component, focused on digital inclusion for the local population. Structure authorized by Aidant Connect by the National Agency for Territorial Cohesion, Hangars Numériques develops digital uses in Reunion and helps residents to better train themselves.
Our workshops make it possible to offer everyone the keys to digital appropriation.
The associations audiences come from all cultural and social backgrounds.
