ACQUA ALTA - the crossing of the mirror - ADRIEN M & CLAIRE B

Pop-up book and augmented reality dance

​

Looking at them through a tablet, the ten double-pages of the book Acqua Alta - The crossing of the mirror become small theatres, where a dance form unfolds thanks to the custom-developed application. Folded white papers and ink drawings meet in a graphic drawing and the simplicity of black and white, the artificial life of miniature beings dancing in a world imbued with the imagination of water. An experience at the intersection of theatre, dance, comics, animated films and video games.


Designed, produced and edited by Adrien M & Claire B, the Acqua Alta project tells a story. A woman, a man, a house. An absurd and divisive daily life. But on a rainy day, life capsized: the rising waters engulfed the house in a sea of ink. The woman slides and disappears. From her there is only hair. Alive. It is the story of a catastrophe, special and universal. It is the story of loss and quest. It is the story of fear of the strange and otherness, and its taming.
